About me

Sometimes it is hard to introduce yourself because you know yourself so well that you do not know where to start with and how to put it in words. I hope that my impression about myself and your impression about me are not so different. Here it goes.
Born and brought in the historical city of Kolkata,West Bengal, my childhood involved the great challenges of surviving in an urban agglomeration home to 4.5 million people. Kolkata is a daily festival of human existence. And it’s all played out before your very eyes on teeming streets where not an inch of space is wasted.
The need to explore beyond the concrete jungle thus began at an early age which ultimately culminated in my love for the subject geography throughout my school and university years.
There are many things I like to do, to see, and to experience. I like to read, I like to write; I like to think, I like to dream; I like to talk, I like to listen. I like to see the sunrise in the morning, I like to see the moonlight at night; I like to feel the cool water from a mountain stream gushing down stream, I like to smell the wind coming from the ocean. I like to look at the clouds in the sky with a blank mind, I like to do thought experiment when I cannot sleep in the middle of the night. I like flowers in spring, rain in summer, leaves in autumn, and cool winter breeze. I like to sleep early, I like to get up late; I like to be alone, I like to be surrounded by people. I like country’s peace, I like metropolis’ noise; I like the beautiful rocks I see all around me in Hyderabad, I like the first rays of sun that kiss the peaks of Mt. Trishul. I like delicious food and comfortable shoes; I like good books and romantic movies. I like the land and the nature, I like people. And, I like to laugh.
I always wanted to be a great leader, like Margaret Thatcher who was Britain's first female prime minister, and first British prime minister in the twentieth century to win three consecutive terms or a great humanitarian like Mother Teresa who was the recipient of numerous honours including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize They have influenced millions of people through their greatness. I also wanted to be a great explorer, like Vasco da Gama who was the commander of the first ships to sail directly from Europe to India. Of course, I am nowhere close to these people, YET. I am just someone who does some teaching, some research, and some writing. But my dream is still alive.
This is a brief introduction of myself. If you are interested in knowing more, click here or take a look at my pictures. Do not expect too much, and keep your sense of humor.
